IM-SAFE covers bridges, tunnels and other large infrastructures on the road and railway networks while enabling the cross-learning between road and railway monitoring, maintenance and operation practices.
IM-SAFE deals with the structural / civil engineering part of transport infrastructure. This includes: analysis of the future trends, demands and regulations of transport, e.g. traffic loads which affect the structural performance of the infrastructure, and where relevant, complementary other infrastructure elements, e.g. railway electrical installations. Traffic management, safety systems of vehicles, etc. are outside of the scope of IM-SAFE.
